Additional 23 C-checks for Emirates Airbus A380

Lufthansa Technik and Emirates have just signed a Base Maintenance Services (BMS) contract for Airbus A380s during the Dubai Airshow. By October 2026, another 23 of the world’s largest passenger aircraft will undergo C-checks performed by Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in Manila. With the agreement now signed, the Dubai-based airline is once again entrusting heavy checks for this fleet type from its own in-house MRO capacities to the world’s leading MRO provider.

Lufthansa Technik’s competence center for Base Maintenance Services on the double-decker long-haul aircraft in Manila has already carried out several heavy checks for Emirates’ A380s since January this year. As soon as the ten A380s covered by the very first agreement have undergone the checks, additional 23 aircraft will follow. By October 2026, LTP will have performed base maintenance checks for 33 Emirates’ Airbus, which is over a quarter of the world’s largest A380 fleet.

To cope with the significantly increased demand for MRO services on the world’s largest commercial airliner type, LTP has invested in additional A380 overhaul capacities. Due to the expanded MRO infrastructure such as the construction of a new 9,000 square meter hangar, three of these superjumbos can be overhauled at the same time in Manila.

While the new Base Maintenance Services contract was signed and celebrated at the Airshow in Dubai, there is also reason to cheer in the United Kingdom: The first overhaul of the Emirates A380 landing gear was completed in the specialized workshop of Lufthansa Technik Landing Gear Services (LTLGS) in London. Since August this year, LTLGS has been performing overhaul services on the Emirates A380’s body and wing landing gear.

Kai Roepke, Senior Vice President Corporate Sales EMEA at Lufthansa Technik, commented: “The fact that Emirates, as the largest Airbus A380 operator in the world, assigns us again to overhaul their flagship aircraft, is a great compliment to our work. It proves that our services consistently align with the exacting standards of our customer. Our teams look forward to further expanding our relationship with Emirates.”
