Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen
The MRO specialist in the Asia-Pacific region
Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen was established in 2002 as a joint venture of Lufthansa Technik (80 percent) and Beijing Kailan Aviation Technology (20 percent). Today, the company provides customers from the Asia Pacific region a broad range of products and services in the fields of Airframe Related Components (ARC®), Component Services, Engine Parts and Accessories Repair (EPAR) as well as Mobile Engine Service and Spare Support for AOG and Pooling. The location at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport means that Hong Kong and Guangzhou airports are within easy reach and quick access to the whole of Asia and the rest of the world is guaranteed.
Initially, Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen specialized in the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of thrust reversers and other sophisticated aircraft components made of composite materials. The company has now grown into a comprehensive MRO service provider with a workforce of more than 650. In 2014, in collaboration with Lufthansa Technik Logistic Services, the company's portfolio was extended to cover supply chain management services and the Airline Support Team (AST®) Engines. The same year, an additional building was constructed, almost tripling the workshop and warehouse space from 9,000 to around 25,000 square meters.
The Airline Support Teams provide regional customers with rapid solutions to engine problems, ranging from Video Borescope Inspection (VPSI) to replacing cowlings and modules. Alongside these "on-wing" and "on-site" services for the diagnosis and repair of engines, Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen also offers professional warehousing and logistics solutions. The establishment of a public customs warehouse allows the logistics division, for example, to assist customers in material procurement, planning, warehouse management, customs processing and transportation regulations.
The ARC specialists at Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen make use of the very latest technology for the repair of thrust reversers, engine cowling, radomes, flight control surfaces and other secondary structures. Working with composites and adhesive structures plays an important role here. Investments to this end include an additional autoclave with a diameter of five meters to allow for composite repairs on large components of aircraft such as the Airbus A350, Boeing 777 and Boeing 787.
The Component Service Center offers customers access to the comprehensive experience and expertise of the Lufthansa Technik Group. The 3,000-square-meter state-of-the-art workshop has been equipped with ATEC6 automatic testing equipment for maintaining avionics components along with other test rigs for pneumatics, wheels, brakes, rescue equipment and safety equipment. Existing capacity for hydraulic work has also been extended. In total, Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen can thus provide maintenance services for more than 3,300 part numbers.
Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen has been certified by the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China), the American FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This guarantees the quality of all maintenance services for international customers at China's fourth-largest airport, making Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen fit for the future.
