Overhaul of short- and medium-range aircraft
Lufthansa Technik Shannon, formerly Shannon Aerospace Ltd. (SAL), spezializes in the overhaul of short- and medium-range aircraft. The services offered include basic overhauls (D-checks) and annual checks (C-checks) on the Boeing 737 Classic und Next Generation, 757, 767 and MD-80 types and the Airbus A320 family of aircraft. With 32,000 square meters of facilities at Shannon Airport in Western Ireland, the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company provides services to over 50 airlines and employs a workforce of more than 500.
The aircraft overhauls are carried out in a 12,300 square meters hangar offering five parking positions. In a further, approx. 4,600 square meters hangar, up to two aircraft can be painted at a time. Shannon Aerospace's facilities also include numerous workshops and a training center.
As well as aircraft overhauls, the company offers a number of other services ranging from technical support and sales of materiel to aircraft line maintenance. Lufthansa Technik Shannon also assists its customers with the creation and modification of maintenance plans. For instance, this includes consultancy on corrosion prevention programs for aircraft.
Another of Lufthansa Technik Shannon's specialisms is its coverage of every aspect of the aircraft leasing business, and here it has the location advantage that over 50 percent of the world's aircraft leasing companies are based in Dublin and Shannon. The number of leasing returns and transition projects is definitely on the rise.

The fully owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik is certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the American Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In addition to the familiar range of products, Lufthansa Technik Shannon is set to perform overhauls on the new Boeing 787 in the future.
Lufthansa Technik Shannon Aviation Training School
Lufthansa Technik Shannon has an EASA Part 147 approved Maintenance Training Department on hand, which is used primarily for in-house training courses for aircraft mechanics. The Aviation Services Training Department is one of the most experienced and respected in the industry, providing Basic Training, Type Training and EASA Part 145 Mandatory Continuation Training in addition to design and deliver a variety of training products and services for the marketplace.
Lufthansa Technik Shannon has one of the most experienced and respected training organisations within the industry. It is a technologically advanced training school with outstanding training facilities and instructors who are experts in the aircraft maintenance industry. In addition to bespoke training projects Lufthansa Technik Shannon also offers a range of specialist courses such as Electrical hand Skills, Continuation Training in Human Factors, Fuel Tank Safety and EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System), a web-based training solution for maintenance engineers.
