In addition, Lufthansa Technik will be present with three presentations/workshops at MRO Russia & CIS 2017:

  • Dr. Holger Appel, Project Manager Innovation: "Big Data Analytics: How to optimize maintenance" - Current aircraft generate a vast amount of data. How can this data be transformed into immediate intelligence that can be used effectively? How can Big Data Analytics be applied in order to support preventive and predictive maintenance? Insights on latest IT-developments, including practical cases of intelligence results being applied in maintenance.
  • Bastian Breitschuh, Engineer Product Development, and Dr. Holger Appel, Project Manager Innovation: "Big Data analytics: Case studies in component services" - In this workshop, the practical use of insights from Big Data analytics is discussed with the participants. This includes understanding which data is needed for which purpose in aircraft and component maintenance. Case studies of using intelligence results in aircraft component services are discussed. As an example, Big Data analyses are performed in order to enable tailored preventive component removals. Individual components are grouped to clusters according to relevant characteristics, such as weather conditions, under which the components are operating. Hence, adequate component removal strategies can be derived for each cluster in order to achieve economically optimized aircraft availability.

  • Max Schramm, Manager Product Sales: "MRO for 'elderly' components" - Offering the full spectrum of MRO for single components means covering testing, repair, overhaul and modification. MRO for elderly components requires special skills and suitable equipment. Examples of challenges and solutions in maintaining elderly components will illustrate how Lufthansa Technik is dealing with this issue.
