Services for GEnx-2B engines
Based on proven GE90 architecture, the GEnx represents a leap forward in aircraft engine technology, using the latest materials and design processes to reduce weight, improve performance and deliver a more fuel-efficient commercial aircraft engine. The GEnx-2B engine has been optimized to power the four-engine Boeing 747-8.
GEnx-2B capabilities at XEOS
GEnx-2B engines will be serviced at XEOS, a joint venture company of Lufthansa Technik (51 percent) and GE Aviation (49 percent) in Poland. When production commences at the beginning of 2019, XEOS will have full capability for the GEnx turbofan engine, including scheduled shop visits, power improvement programs, performance restoration shop visits and the full overhaul work scope.
Service center for the newest GE engines
XEOS will operate a state-of-the-art engine service center for the newest GE aircraft engines. The joint venture partners are investing some 250 million euros in the new engine overhaul facility in the Legnica Special Economic Zone in Środa Śląska in Southwestern Poland. The factory is scheduled to become operational in 2019 and will have a workforce of around 600 employees. In addition to disassembly and assembly of engines, there is also a plan for XEOS to have its own engine test facility.
