Lufthansa Technik Brussels
Maintenance center in Europe's capital city
As an MRO provider, Lufthansa Technik Brussels in Belgium has specialized in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of short-haul and long-haul aircraft. The company became a 100 percent subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG in 1999 following the acquisition by the latter of a majority shareholding in a Belgian aircraft maintenance company.
The company, which has a central location at Brussels airport, has a total capacity of 7,350 square meters of floor space, 6,100 square meters of which is taken up by the hangar in which up to four short-haul aircraft can be maintained at the same time. Immediately next door to the hangar is the 1,250 square meters logistics area, which is primarily used to store parts and manage inventories on behalf of customers. Around 70 highly skilled staff perform all the relevant technical work all around the clock. To enable it to support customers at Brussels Charleroi airport (Brussels South) as well as at the main Brussels Zaventem airport, Lufthansa Technik Brussels operates another maintenance station to the south of the Belgian capital city.
Lufthansa Technik Brussels offers aircraft maintenance (line maintenance, including A checks) for the Airbus A320 family, A300-600, A310-300, A330, and A340 as well as the Boeing 737 Classic (-300, -400, -500), 737 Next Generation (-600, -700, -800), 747-200/-400, 757, 767, 777 and Embraer ERJ 135, 145 series of jet airliners. In addition, it performs structural work, engine and landing gear changes, logistics services and modifications. The company operates under Lufthansa Technik's operating license from the German Civil Aviation Authority (LBA) and is certified under the EASA and FAA Part 145 regulations. It is also in the process to obtain licenses for new aircraft types such as the Boeing 787 and 747-8.
Besides the logistics process and storage of aircraft engines, light "off-wing" engine maintenance tasks can be performed for CFM56 and V2500, such as C checks, video borescope inspections or component changes. Also these services are provided with an EASA and/or FAA release certificate. Availing itself of the latest technical standards, lean production processes and efficient quality management, Lufthansa Technik Brussels has established itself as an aircraft maintenance company in Europe. Due to its extremely low cost structure, Lufthansa Technik Brussels is also in the ideal position to support European low-cost carriers and cargo operators as customers.
