After a successful test run Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) now has become the sixth member of the EPAR network (Engine Parts and Accessories Repair) of Lufthansa Technik. At first, “Low Pressure Turbine Shrouds” for the CFM 56-3 engine will be repaired in Manila. As of October, the respective components for the CF6-80C2 engine will follow. External providers have repaired these components so far on behalf of Lufthansa Technik.
The product name EPAR is established in the market with an individual logo in the organization of Lufthansa Technik. The network of companies and production places the abbreviation EPAR stands for is growing from year to year: Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg and Lufthansa Technik Turbine Shannon (LTTS) in Ireland have been part of the EPAR network from the beginning. Lufthansa Technik Intercoat (LTI) in Kaltenkirchen, Germany, the „pipe shop“ in Berlin Schoenefeld as well as the joint venture with MTU at Malaysia Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhn. (ASSB) have joined the network by and by. In October an overhaul platform for main fuel pumps will be opened at a further location at Hawker Pacific in the USA.
Figures underline that EPAR is a growing business segment: The location in Hamburg alone doubled the turnover of external customers from about Euro 10 million in 1998 to Euro 40 million in 2003. The share of external EPAR customers in Hamburg tripled from 1998 (5 percent) to 15 percent in 2003. The EPAR network’s market share quadrupled from below one percent in 1998 to four percent in 2003.
