Airbus A400M: Cooperation with Air France Industries started
Component Support for modern, multi-role military airlifter
Europe’s two leading maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) providers Lufthansa Technik and Air France Industries have decided to join forces in offering an extensive component & logistic support service for the Airbus A400M. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by Alain Bassil, President of Air France Industries, and August Wilhelm Henningsen, Chairman of the Executive Board, Lufthansa Technik AG.
Effective immediately both partners will start evaluations to offer a complete line of component services to all A400M operators worldwide. Under this scheme, the companies will provide component repair & overhaul, engineering services, management of a dedicated component pool including all required logistics not only at the Air Forces´ A400M main bases but also during various missions around the globe. The new program will offer significant cost advantages resulting from synergies and the MRO know-how of 2,000 airplanes served by the two companies.
“With our expertise in all areas, including the military segment, Lufthansa Technik and Air France Industries can offer made-to-measure solutions for military clients. This joint component support will generate significantly lower A400M operating costs,” says Air France Industries’ Alain Bassil. “The concepts and processes set up for our A380 joint venture Spairliners will help us launch another joint approach customized to the special needs of military aircraft operators,” added August Wilhelm Henningsen.
In June 2005 Lufthansa Technik and Air France Industries teamed up for Spairliners - their joint component support for the A380, offering a full spectrum of support services to all A380 operators worldwide from the very first day of operations.
